Linqstat Electrically Conductive and Antistatic Plastic Film

Applications For Conductive Plastic Films

Plastics are the lousy conductors! But did you know that they are used to insulate the cables by placing a thin film of metal on to the plastic or by mixing the metal into the polymer? Conductive plastic films offer the value for applications that require thermal management, protection from electrostatic charge, and dissipation of static charges.

Whether it is anti-static, EMI fielding, static dissipative, or ESD protection, each compound (film or tape) offers the exact degree of resistivity for your application.

CAPLINQ offers an electrically conductive plastic film that offers a surface resistivity from 200 ohms-per-square to less than 200,000 ohms per square. Our conductive films consist of the VCF, XVCF, and MVCF series.

The CAPLINQ LINQSTAT VCF-Series is a black carbon-filled electrically conductive polyethylene film that is designed to offer both static and physical protection in numerous applications. As a medium level plastic, it is quite cost effective while meeting the electrical requirements of military specification MIL-PRF-81705D Type II and MIL-P-82646A.

The applications include-

  • Protection and storage of static-sensitive components
  • Interleaf between rolls of Smartcard modules
  • Grounding Mats

But remember that the VCF conductive plastic film series is surface conductive, not volume conductive. Its easy-ground nature makes it ideal for packaging where electrostatic contamination is a problem. This series is also useful in the applications where the main aim is to balance the cost.

The conductivity of this film is unaffected by both time and humidity.

Other applications of VCF Conductive Plastic Films

In the bag form, LINQSTAT VCF-B Series, this electrically conductive plastic is used to pack static-sensitive components. And due to its antistatic properties, it is also used in the ordnance industry.

While in the tube form, LINQSTAT VCF-T Series, this film is used in the electrical components and in automated packaging lines.

Moreover, it has various advantages over the metals like the finished parts are lighter in weight and are easier to handle. Also, their fabrication is easier and less costly due to the elimination of the secondary processes.

The film is flexible, heat sealable, and offers you incredible abrasion resistance. Apart from this, it has good chemical resistance and exceptional thermal stability.

With the standard thickness ranging from 65μm to 200μm (0.0025” to 0.008”), it is available in V-fold and C-fold versions.
