Recently, we were asked if CAPLINQ supplied a tape with the following specifications:
- Adhesive: 17um Silicone adhesive
- Polyimide Backing Carrier: 25um Polyimide
- Adhesive: 17um Silicone adhesive
- Release liner: Paper or PET >=50um
- Roll Width: 50mm wide
A big part of what CAPLINQ does is custom-designed specialty tapes. This means designing and manufacturing tapes to customer specifications. Once we defined the requirements, we were able to see how this product fit into our product line. We first drew up a sketch (like the one in the image), and presented it to the customer who agreed. Then we presented it to production, who also understood the requirement. In our nomenclature, this would appear as LINQTAPE PIT1SD-UT.
PIT1SD-UT: Double-sided polyimide tape with a very-thin silicone adhesive layer
We use our product nomenclature to accurately describe our materials:
- LINQTAPE: This is our brand name used for our specialty tapes
- PIT: Stands for Polyimide Tape
- 1: Stands for 1mil thick polyimide (generic kapton) backing or carrier
- S: Stands for Silicone adhesive
- D: Double-sided. It also means that there is only ONE release liner, the other side is wound to the top of the bottom layer
- UT: Stands for our “Ultra-Thin” adhesive layer of 0.5mil or 17um
As of this writing, the product has yet to be produced. But it will be, and it will be added to the ever-growing list of products we offer our customers.
